The parliament of the european union proposed to amend the taxation of energies. This would also have had serious consequences for alternative drives such as autogas and natural gas – prices would have risen due to the tax increase. But that is now off the table.
For the time being, everything remains the same after 2018.
Drivers of an autogas vehicle can still enjoy the benefits of the minimized tax rate of 9.8 cents per liter. from 2018 this share will then increase to 22.3 cents per liter of autogas. This tax component, which is already anchored in the text of the law, will therefore continue after 2018 only about one third of the known tax rate for SUPER gasoline. So everything remains as it was – our customers can continue to smiling while refueling.
the chances until 2025 are more than good.
The current signals from brussels are clear: the opportunities for the tax concessions until the year 2025 stand really well. This means for your autogas conversion: more planning certainty. The plans of the expert committee are to take further measures in the EU fuel strategy.

EU CO2 target of 10% of vehicles running on autogas.
In the european union, there are so-called CO2 targets, systems are reducing emissions deal. This reduction of pollutant emissions can only be achieved if the quantity of autogas vehicles increases to 10 percent by 2020. There is a consensus in brussels that such a ambitious goal corresponding preparations are needed. Both some representatives in brussels and the liquid gas association in germany are campaigning for the tax advantage until 2025 is extended. For you, this means that autogas retrofitting will still be worthwhile in ten years’ time. You can many years to benefit from the advantages of autogas – and not only in terms of cost savings.

In the night from tuesday to wednesday, after tough negotiations, the CDU/CSU and SPD party leaders agreed on the most important cornerstones of their time in government and then presented the coalition agreement. The following is the excerpt from it:
We support the technology-open development of new powertrains and fuels resp. energy sources, thus providing incentives for the market establishment of innovative solutions. We continue to develop the mobility and fuel strategy. The production and use of biofuels must be guided by the principles of sustainability. For this, we want to develop a biofuel strategy based on realistic volume potentials. We will also drive forward research into new fuels and the introduction of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the shipping industry. We want to extend the energy tax reduction for climate-friendly autogas and natural gas, which is limited until the end of 2018.

Dear mr. hager,
The question of extending tax aid for liquefied petroleum gas (and natural gas) is currently the subject of intense political debate. The Federal Ministry of Finance has commissioned an expert opinion on the medium-term consequences for tax revenues and possible counter-financing measures, the results of which are expected to be available at the end of the year. In the Bundestag, an initiative of members of the coalition parties has appealed to the Federal Minister of Finance for a swift decision.
The Federal Ministry of Finance expects to issue an interim report at the end of May. We are going z.Z. Assumes that the discussion will lead to a decision thereafter. The Federal Ministry of Economics has expressed its support for an extension of tax subsidies. But I cannot anticipate a final parliamentary decision here and now and ask for your understanding that more can probably only be said in the course of June.

The federal minister of finance probably does not intend to extend the subsidy for autogas. the extension of the tax benefit is in the coalition agreement, but as a measure that must be matched by counter-financing. Since this counter-financing – we are talking about approx. 1 billion euros – cannot be established, the federal government plans to phase out the subsidy in 2018. It is further argued, that the infrastructure for autogas is already very good, but the network of natural gas refueling stations needs further promotional measures. This is how it comes about that CNG will probably continue to be subsidized. The fact that retrofitting to CNG is virtually impossible is irrelevant here. Most car manufacturers have opted for the fuel alternative CNG. The sale of CNG vehicles has been very slow. The extension of the subsidy for this alternative fuel is therefore a pure subsidy for the sale of new CNG vehicles. A final decision by the Federal Ministry of Finance is still pending. A decision is expected in february 2017.

LPG-autogas will remain tax-subsidized beyond 2018. That’s the good news, to which more than 550 people are waiting.000 motorists have been waiting. This week, the Finance Committee in the Bundestag amended the draft of a second law for the adjustment of the energy tax and electricity tax law (18/11493, 18/11927) submitted by the federal government, which had provided for the end of this tax concession for LPG autogas at the end of 2018, in a number of important points. The amendments proposed by the CDU/CSU and SPD parties provide for the extension of the tax concession/subsidy for autogas until the end of 2022. That’s the positive news for now, with the corresponding signal effect.
