On World Day against Sexual Violence in Conflict, the pope stresses the special importance of women. It stands "for the preservation of life, communion with everything and care for everything," he wrote on Twitter.
"By how we treat the body of women, we recognize the degree of our humanity," Francis said. Sexual crimes, not only against women, are used deliberately as a means of warfare in armed conflicts around the world. The UN-proclaimed World Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict makes its annual mark on 19. June to draw attention to the ie.
