Allegations of abuse against deceased priest

In the diocese of Munster, allegations of abuse against a deceased priest have become more concrete. The diocese announced this on Saturday and announced that it would submit the case to an external processing commission for examination.

Already in March, allegations had been made against the clergyman in identical anonymous letters to three parishes, the diocese announced in Munster on Saturday. From the personnel file, however, there would have been no evidence of sexual abuse.

In the meantime, according to the diocese, two affected persons have contacted the contact persons of the diocese and reported sexual abuse by the deceased priest.

Protection through anonymity

A concerning wanted to remain anonymous, it was said. The second person concerned had stated that he had already reported the abuse in 1993, when the accused priest was still alive. However, there are no references to this communication in the personnel file.

The diocese announced to submit the case to an external processing commission for examination. If there are other victims, they should report to the contact persons for proceedings in cases of sexual abuse.
